International Childhood Cancer Day celebrated February 15 each year is a day set aside to create awareness for childhood cancer in almost all countries in the world, childhood cancer receives the least attention due to a variety of factors not the least being its perceived rarity. As such of became imperative to have a day to let people know that more and more children are getting diagnosed with cancer each day. And these children deserve better treatment options than what is available. Awareness also means that we tackle the myths surrounding childhood cancer in numerous communities and appeal for better scientific attention to these diseases. Akanimo Cancer Foundation participates in this awareness exercise each year since it’s existence.
