WYATT'S STORY

Support the FIght Against Childhood cancer

bryan_edited.jpg

When Wyatt was 5 years old, he was diagnosed with a pediatric cancer called Neuroblastoma cancer. Neuroblastoma is a solid tumor that typically occurs in the adrenal gland above the kidney.

A lot of people when you tell them about Neuroblastoma, they think it's a brain cancer because they  hear the word Neuro . Neuroblastoma can happen to a child anywhere.
We didn't know a lot about pediatric cancer, Wyatt was sick and what we knew was Leukemia and we knew that symptoms of Leukemia were like unexplained bruising , general fatigue etc. Wyatt didn't experience any unexplained leg pain. To further escalate the issue he had a low grade fever that would come and go and fatigue. It was just winter and I thought he came down with virus or something.

January 17th was the first day we were worried about him , he wasn't diagnosed until March 4th of 2018. This period saw the cancer getting to stage 4 the symptoms were fatigue, localized pains in the bone marrow etc.

Wyatt had tumors throughout his skeleton, a bump on his skull too. We had to travel to one of the best oncology center in New York after four rounds of chemotherapy for treatment to be given. Wyatt case was phenomenal as it was a 50% relapsing stage.  Wyatt took part in the immunotherapy treatment program for Neuroblaatoma at MSK and thankfully responded very well to treatment. MSK treatment protocol for neuroblastoma has been approved by the FDA and is used for the treatment of that childhood cancer nationwide. I would recommend MSK to any parent who is wondering where to take their child. Today, Wyatt is in remission and is trying to love his life with his brothers as normal as possible. Wyatt enjoys soccer, reading and gaming.. We are grateful for the science that brought us the treatment that should be cured as Wyatt is now 10 years old with minimal post treatment effects.

We believe with your support, future research will be carried out deeply to help treat pediatric cancer.
